Semaglutide Treatment

What is Semaglutide?

Semaglutide has emerged as a promising treatment for weight loss in adults dealing with obesity or weight gain.

Semaglutide is a hormone that regulates insulin secretion, thereby slowing down gastric emptying and increasing feelings of fullness.

How does it work?

Semaglutide is given via injection in our office. It is recommended that patients combine this treatment with a diet and exercise plan. The duration of the treatment can vary, but typically, we recommend patients commit to a four-month period of treatment, with injections being administered weekly. During this time, we will be taking patients’ weights and measurements, and encouraging them to keep a food and exercise log. To begin the process, patients will need an evaluation by our Nurse Practitioner, along with blood work to make sure they are an appropriate candidate for the program.

What are its benefits?

Substantial Weight Reduction: Clinical trials have shown an average weight loss of 12% to 15% of body weight over around 68 weeks.

Improved Body Composition: It often leads to reductions in visceral fat, improving overall body composition.

Blood Sugar Control: Semaglutide's impact on blood sugar levels indirectly supports weight reduction.

As with all weight loss programs, individuals are encouraged to live a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise.
